Earlier today, Nokia announced it would be updating its Lumia 920 and 820 smartphones here in the US with its own software upgrade. The software update also included the first public launch of the "Portico" update for Windows Phone 8.
Today, Microsoft finally posted up the release notes for "Portico" on its Windows Phone 8 update history page. The actual version number for the update is 8.0.10211.204 and one of the big improvements in this update will be for its messaging feature. Microsoft says:
You can now add multiple recipients at the same time when you send a text message and automatically save unsent text messages as drafts. You can even edit received text messages before you forward them.
The update also allows users to create a pre-written text reply to a caller and the WiFi has an additional feature that will put your most used WiFi connections up front based on the connection history of the device. Finally, Internet Explorer can now be setup to stop the automatic download of images along with the ability to delete specific websites from the browser's history.
There's no word yet on when the other Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 smartphones or the HTC Windows Phone 8X will receive the "Portico" update.
