Bike path lighting project nearly complete - KOTA Territory News

Rapid City is getting brighter by the day, and you'll notice, especially if you take a stroll along the bike path.
?
Tuesday, the foundations for the final 15 solar powered lights are being poured near the 5th street bridge.
After about 10 days, the lights will be installed and phase one of the project will be concluded.

All together, 58 lights will decorate the bike path green way, as part of the community's first solar light project.
?
"We've seen some before and after pictures and it really lights up the area. It's a great solar light project for the community," said Alex DeSmidt, Landscape Designer with the Parks and Recreation department.
?
The project was funded by city capitol improvement funds, as well as private donations totaling close to $600,000 dollars.

Cameras may also be installed under bridges and along the path, in the second phase of the project.
