GRAPEVINE ? The search for an "extremely dangerous" felon continued across Texas on Wednesday.

Alberto Morales, 42, was being transported from Miami to Las Vegas by police when he escaped at a Walmart in Grapevine on Monday night.

He allegedly stabbed a Miami detective with part of his eyeglasses. The detective was one of two men who were overseeing the cross-country trip.

Local police, U.S. Marshals and even Miami-Dade officers have been searching the Grapevine area, but there were still no confirmed sightings of Morales as of Wednesday night.

"He's got a horrible past," said Sgt. Patricia Bimonte, who flew in from Florda to help with the search and check on her injured colleague.

Surveillance footage released on Wednesday showed Morales making a clean run for it across the Walmart parking lot just a few moments after breaking free, with no sign of the shackles that were supposed to have been constraining him.

News 8 looked into Morales' criminal history and found a man who has spent part of his life behind bars, charged with everything from animal cruelty to assault and auto theft.

Morales was facing decades behind bars in Las Vegas in relation to a sexual assault case.

The injured officer suffered a collapsed lung and several puncture wounds but is expected to recover.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to his capture.? Florida officials called on other law enforcement agencies to help try and raise more money.
